Photography - SNHU Project

Flint, MI has experienced countless challenges - from poisoned water to a mass exodus after the GM plant closed causing a domino effect of lost prosperity with school closures and loss of investment in the community. A little over 20 years later, there are sparks of hope to bring a once bustling city back to its roots - but there is a long way to go. This project captured beauty buried in less explored parts of the downtown scene. If you look closely enough, there's a bit of treasure everywhere. "As part of my photography course at SNHU, I was assigned to choose a location to photograph and tell a story through my pictures. I chose Downtown Flint because of its rich history and recent revitalization efforts. After the closure of the GM plant, the city experienced a mass exodus that caused a decline in prosperity, resulting in school closures and a loss of investment in the community. More than 20 years later, there are signs of hope to bring the once-bustling city back to life, but it still has a long way to go. My project aimed to capture the beauty hidden in the less explored parts of the downtown scene. If you look closely enough, you can find treasure everywhere.
